Mission Statement:
To provide protective and timely service to the citizens and commercial tenants of the Village of Chatham.

Department Background:
Chief Roy Barnett has served the community for 18 years subsequent to retiring as Deputy Chief of Operations and 20 years of service with the Springfield Police Department. The police department has an authorized sworn staff of 13 officers with a length of service from 5 years to 29 years. Three of the personnel serve in supervisory positions. There are 5 full time and 2 part time civilian personnel assigned to the communications section.

All sworn personnel hired are subject to competitive examinations by the Chatham Police and Fire Commission. A candidate eligibility listing is then submitted by the commission which is effective for a period of two years.
