Village of Chatham Gordon Drive "Road Closure"

The Village of Chatham announced today that Sangamo Construction will begin work on the

Gordon Drive box culvert project on or about April 24, 2010. The work site is located south of Walnut

Street in the Village of Chatham, and will require the closure of Gordon Drive between Ramblewood Road

and Mau Drive. Sangamo Construction indicated that starting on April 24th work will begin on the box culvert

located just north of Mau Drive. Gordon Drive will be closed to all traffic between Mau Drive and Spruce

Street from the start of the project until approximately August 30, 2010. On or about July 1, 2010, work will

begin on the 2nd box culvert, north of the Spruce Street intersection. At that time, the full road closure of Gordon

Drive will be extended north to a location just south of Ramblewood Road. A detour for Gordon Drive will be posted

along Walnut Street, Gilreath Road and Hurstbourne Lane for the entire duration of the project. The anticipated

Yard Waste Guidelines

You may "trim" trees and bushes year round and put the limbs in the front of your house by the curb for the Village to

pick up.  However, YOU MUST CALL THE VILLAGE OFFICE FOR A WORK ORDER at 217-483-2451.   

NO whole trees or bushes will be accepted!!  It would be helpful if limbs were stacked neatly in one direction for pick

up.  Also, please let us know if there are thorns on the limbs.   This is a free pick up, so the village will pick them up as

time allows in their schedule. 

Leaves, garden and other yard waste (NO GRASS) is picked up free twice a year by the village in Spring and the Fall.

During the free pickup, leaf bags will be available at the village office and the pick up is free during those times only

(these dates vary year to year).  We will update the website with these dates when they occur.  Otherwise, you will

need to put yard stickers on your bags and your wastehauler will pick them up.  Bags with GRASS in them are picked

up by your waste hauler, please check with them on their rules.
